Who we are?
Founder - Christopher Spooner
I’m a Geoscientist turned Technology Specialist with a passion for solving complex problems and driving innovation in the mining industry.
My journey began in the Pilbara, searching for diamond deposits after graduating with First Class Honours in Geoscience. It was there that I discovered my love for technology, building my first automation project to streamline the daily sample register task (and free up time for a well-earned beer with the crew!). That spark led me to pursue a Computer Science qualification and dive into Geological Data Management.
Over the years, I’ve worked across Australia, Africa, and Canada, and later joined a global technology company where I implemented data management solutions for clients worldwide. As a Product Owner in a DevOps team, I learned the full lifecycle of technology products—from development and implementation to training and support—while mastering Agile practices and change management.
Today, I combine my field experience with cutting-edge tech skills to deliver solutions that make a real impact. I’ve led global projects for major mining houses, including rolling out a Sample Information Management System and transforming drillhole and surface data into modern cloud data warehouses. I’ve also built Python libraries to make data access easier for Data Scientists and Analysts.
I believe cloud technologies and automation are game changers for mining—and I’m excited to keep pushing boundaries to unlock new possibilities for geoscience and data analytics.
